IP Code

IP Code

What is IP Code?

IP or Ingress Protection Marking or International Protection Marking is published by International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) as classification code of protection against intrusion (body parts such as fingers and hands), dust, accidental contact, and water by mechanical casing and electrical enclosures.

As a customer,  we can identify easier that device or equipment is waterproof or not, dust proof or not, by identify IP code. On the other hand, as manufacturer IP code is shown as guarantee label to tell the customer that our product is waterproof or dust proof and what kind environment that support or may destruct the equipment.

First Digit – Solids

The first digit indicates the level of protection that the enclosure provides against access to hazardous parts (e.g., electrical conductors, moving parts) and the ingress of solid foreign objects

Second Digit – Liquids

Protection of the equipment inside the enclosure against harmful ingress of water.

NOTES Digit

Letter X is used to replace the digit where there is no data available to specify a protection rating with regard to one of the criteria

The digit 0 is used where no protection is provided.
